Many Porsche Mobil1 Supercup teams prepare for the 2025 season in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe.
The season kicks off on 18 and 19 January in Portimão, promising high-level competition.
Zonhoven, 20 December 2024. In just one month, the third season of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe will begin in Portimão, located in the beautiful Portuguese Algarve. This edition is set to be exceptional, with a particularly strong lineup in the Sport Division. The starting grid is filled with promising young Porsche drivers, showcasing the potential to produce future stars like Kevin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor. The first of four exciting events will take place on 18 and 19 January in Portimão.
This year’s Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe comprises four meetings: Portimão on 18 and 19 January, Estoril on 7 and 8 February, Valencia on 21 and 22 February, and the finale in Barcelona on 28 February and 1 March.
“Despite the festive season, we are only a month away from our opening race,” says Series Manager Lars Plato. “We have meticulously prepared for this third season, which focuses on continuity. The impressive entry list in the Sport Division reflects that. The Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe has firmly established itself as the preparatory platform for the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup and various Porsche Carrera Cup series across Europe. This year’s entry list is particularly strong, featuring some of Europe’s fastest young talents and leading teams. The competition will be fierce, making it the perfect preparation for the 2025 season. We are also committed to ensuring the best possible conditions for all participants. Anyone still looking to secure a spot on the Sport Division grid will need to act fast, as there are only a few slots left.”
The international appeal of the Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe is evident in the diversity of its teams and drivers. Its strong reputation continues to attract the best teams and fastest drivers preparing for the upcoming season.
The participating teams include CLRT, Proton Huber Competition, Target Competition, Team GP Elite, Fach Auto Tech, PG Motorsport, EST1, Laptime Performance, Porsche Estonia, Team Parker Racing, Ombra Racing, Team Korainen, Neuhofer, and MDM Motorsport. Many of these teams have been key players in the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup in recent years.
The driver lineup is equally remarkable, featuring 23 entries in the PRO category, alongside intense battles anticipated in the PRO-AM and Rookie categories.
“It would be impossible to list all the names, but the quality of this year’s field is exceptional,” Lars Plato adds. “Defending champion Ariel Levi (Team GP Elite) will face stiff competition from within his own team, including Kas Haverkort, runner-up Rookie in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, and Huub van Eijndhoven, a regular in the Carrera Cup Germany and Porsche Mobil1 Supercup. Rookie champion Flynt Schuring (CLRT) is also competing, alongside his teammate Chester Kieffer, who helped CLRT secure the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup team title in 2024. Additionally, Porsche Carrera Cup France Junior Karen Gaillard will represent CLRT. Other notable entrants include Porsche GB Junior James Wallis (Proton Huber Competition), Charl Michel Visser (Target Competition), Jonas Greif (Team GP Elite), and Sacha Norden (Proton Huber Competition), a standout driver from the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux. This exceptional talent pool ensures a thrilling season ahead.”
“The Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe is now a goal in itself,” Lars Plato concludes. “This means we can expect intense battles at every event. Early in 2025, we’ll provide more details about the Club Division, featuring Gentlemen Drivers in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (type 992) and Porsche Cayman GT4 RS. For now, I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a fantastic New Year. See you in early January!”
